Charlotte Culot, born in Belgium, works in Provence in Southern France. She has exhibited in Paris, Brussels, and Stockholm, among many other European cities, and in Newport, New York, and Nantucket, MA, in the USA.

Her art education began at the hands of her father, a renowned sculptor in Belgium, and her mother, a book illustrator. From 1982 to 1988, Ms. Culot studied archeology, art history, and anthropology at the University of Louvain in Belgium, writing on African vernacular architecture for her thesis.

She strives for the poetic, musical spirit of form through simple line and shape. Her work is the attempt to create delicate subtlety, gentle strength, which stands up by the presence and significance of its own mystical meaning. It is like geological layers of emotion, mirroring hidden memories and emotions.
